Better Boating Brochure
To address the issues of best boating practices, the 8T&B committee completed two Better Boating Brochures for the Parker River / Essex Bay ACEC and the Merrimack River region. The informational brochures include a map of mooring areas and no-wake zones, summaries of current boating safety rules and regulations, and locations of pump out facilities available to boaters. Part of the purpose of the brochures is to provide information that will help reduce direct discharge of wastes from boats into waterways and reduce marsh bank erosion caused by high speed travel. 4,000 copies of the completed brochures were distributed to all marinas and towns in the southern end of the 8T&B region for distribution to boaters. In addition, the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management donated bilge socks to be included with the brochures.
