Salt Marsh Restoration Projects
Based on the information obtain from the Tidal Crossings Inventory, 8T&B works with federal, state, and private environmental groups to restore salt marshes by resizing and replacing restrictive culverts. Participating communities are asked to provide in-kind services with the financial costs, engineering, public outreach and education, and the permitting process provided through the partnership. The 8T&B committee coordinates and manages each of the components of a salt marsh restoration project. Restoration projects has been completed in Ipswich, Gloucester, and Essex. Our most recent project has been the completion of the Island Road Culvert Replacement in Essex, and we are currently working on culvert restorations at Castle View in Gloucester, Newman Road in Newbury, and Plumbush Creek in Newbury and Newburyport.
