Voices of the Great Marsh Video Project
Voices Of The Great Marsh, a 14-minute video, presents a compelling historical and contemporary portrait of the Great Marsh, which stretches from West Gloucester to Salisbury, through the eyes of those who have actively worked on it and played a role in preserving it. Our story is told through interviews with 96 year-old environmental activist Ruth Alexander of Rowley, shell fisherman and activist Robert "Stubby" Knowles of Gloucester, among others, and includes interviews with current scientists/advocates, present-day marsh footage, and archival materials. Sale of the video has allowed us to distribute free copies to all town libraries and school systems in the 8T&B region. Members of the committee have used this video in presentations to community groups. The presentations are part of our educational outreach program to educate people about their role as stewards of this remarkable resource in their backyards. Copies of the video are available from the 8T&B Coastal Resources Coordinator.
